Devastating Earthquake in Chile

Desperation rises in Chile.

Many camped in streets as the city bear brunt of quake.

Troops while the police attacks.

Grief.

Destroyed city.

Aftermath.

An earthquake with magnitude 7.7 struck at 12.40PM in Chile. Buildings collapsed, crushed cars and damaged hundreds of houses, terrified people shouting for helps.

Devastating. 2 were found dead and hundreds injured after the 2 minutes destruction. Most likely the death tolls rises as the rescue moves to coast. More dead bodies found and the whole city is paralyzed.

After few days, International Aid began to arrive in Chile. Emergency workers from local now focus on the recovery operations at the coastline where the Tsunami struck that probably swept thousands of people to the sea. Many believe and feared that tourists that camped along the coast been dragged into the Pacific Ocean.

Horrible. Chile is poured with sunshine and many tourists, especially backpackers and surfers flood to the city for a breakaway. After the nature disaster, the statistic of dead made complicated as the rescue is not able to compile the list of missing people.

Up-to-date, the Chilean Government had confirmed that 700+ had been killed and a further 2 million are homeless.

I feel very sad. More lands on earth are struck by nature disasters recently. Haiti reconstruction is still in progress, tsunami strike again and destroyed major part of the city of Chile. Millions left homeless and all the facilities broke down. Terrified people searching for helps, people lying on the ground motionless. The city is dead.

What we can do for them? Donation? How much can we help? We can reconstruct the city, build houses for them. What about the mentally depression? The grief for losing their love ones? The pain that never heal?

This is not the first time where disasters struck the land of Chile. Earthquake history in Chile :

1939 - Killed 28,000 people
1960 - a magnitude-9.5 quake — the strongest recorded in the 20th century.Killed 5,700 people.
2005 - a magnitude-7.8 quake near Tarapaca in northern Chile killed 11 people and left thousands homeless.

As a Malaysian, we should feel grateful. We are free from most of the nature disasters, to be specific, like earthquake, volcano and wind turbine.

I pray for those who stay nearby Chile, I hope you all are safe.

PS : My blog had been very dead for the past whole week, I lost all my photos in the camera, total 350++! Thanks to the stupid pendrive. My friends and I have been talking about this earthquake, this shut off my mood to blog about where I went for dinner, what I did today, what's my plan and blah-blah-blah.

I am recharged, after reading positive news, celebrity gossips, I am back. ;)

Stay tuned for more ME!
