World Environment Day (WED) 2009

Commemorated yearly on 5 June,

My planet need me! ;)

In Malaysia, year 2009, 5th of June falls on Friday. Friday is the most enjoying day cause my holiday mode will be activated! It's my code to be energetic and fresh ;) My friends and I decided to be part of this event!

Firstly, we send emails to friends and the people around us to wear green by this coming Friday. Plastic bag is restricted in my territory, photocopy paper 2-sided and drop all the plastic bottles, and used papers into the recycle bin.

This is just a minor part we able to do. Hopefully from this awareness campaign we could empower people to become active agents of sustainable and equitable development.

Grateful that most of friends responded. However, small of part of them have no awareness and think they can't do much to save their own planet. Owh, it reflects how tiny is your brain and lack of humanity, no?

What to more about World Environment Day?

The theme for 2009 is

'Your Planet Needs You-UNite to Combat Climate Change'

Established by the UN General Assembly in 1972 to mark the opening of the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment.

WED is one of the principal vehicles through which the United Nations stimulates worldwide awareness of the environment and enhances political attention and action.

So many things we could do to 'plant a tree for a day'. We can actually stimulates 'go green' in daily routine. What you're doing now, probably you can't see the results immediately, but imagine after 10 years, you are living in a world with fresh air and clean environment. Good future? *blink*

Plant A Tree, Save Your Planet :

Save the water. Stop letting the tap run while shaving, washing face and brushing teeth. Go extra miles in saving water, install showerheads with a low flow in your bathrooms for bathing purposes.

Use towel. Dry your face and hands with towel instead of tissues which used and thrown away! Hang it and let it dry so you can use it for several times without washing it every time you use.

Share the newspaper. (This is exactly what I'm doing in college) If you prefer your own copy, make sure you recycle it!

Packing your food. Use reusable containers for food storage instead of wrapping the food with disposable wrap or plastic bag.

Chargers. Unplug them when not using cause it continue to consume even if they are not charging; saving energy helps reduce air pollution.

Saving up the electricity. Light off when it's not needed. make sure to switch off all the appliances when you're not at home.

Don't go anywhere without your cloth bag and say NO to plastic bag whenever you shop. Hey, I have 7 big blue bags from IKEA.

Get a fuel-efficient car model and keep your tyres inflated to the correct pressure. (my fairlady gone lar this case!)

For those who suffer from road rage, remember that aggressive driving lowers your mileage, so if you want to save on fuel and save the planet while you’re at it, accelerate gradually. (something to keep that in mind the next time that bad driver cuts you off! Just count to 10 and say the planet needs me!)

Don’t place lamps or TV sets near your air-conditioning thermostat as it senses heat from these appliances, which can cause the air-conditioner to run longer than necessary.

When you wash, use only eco-friendly products in your home. It’s best for you and the environment!

And so on... You can suggest your own 'plant a tree' idea to your friends, bring up the awareness so that all of us are blessed with a better future!

The best idea I like the most is :

When you are feeling at your laziest, don’t throw clean clothes in the hamper to avoid hanging them up! Wear jeans more than once.

Summary :

The movie is set in post-apocalyptic 2018. Between the peace and. Future and the end. Basically, it's a story about robots are attempting to dominate the world. They started the war and destroy the humanity. Skynet has destroyed much of humanity in a nuclear holocaust. Cities are dark and human are killed or caught for transfroming themselves into robots. A group of survivors led by John Connor struggled to stop the evil behavior of robots.

John Connor, is the man fated to lead the Human Resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators. His mission is to save Kyle Reese, which believed to be his father from the past. His mother is Sarah Connor. Sarah taped her messages and prediction of the future. He leads the humanity and combine all the manpower around the world to stop the world domination by Skynet. End of the storyline, He entered the heart of Skynet operation, undercovered by Marcus. He discovered the secret of possible annihilation of mankind. He was in the war of mankind and robots which is a leap of faith, he made his choices to believe Marcus and save Kyle Reese, who is the key to the future of mankind.

Went to Domino's to have my dinner with Calvin, Edward and Vincent. I love the pizza box. ;)

The movie is purrr-fect. Not much of storyline, but I believe people still love it, especially Terminator-fanatic. I went for the preview last night with friends. Credit to my sister for getting the tickets for me before the ticket-selling is open to the public. ;) We got the best view from the seats. Nobody is blocking us, the seats in front of us are all unseated! FYI, the cinema is full.

UNICEF Malaysia : Unite For Children

Anyone ever heard about Unicef Malaysia?

Basically, UNICEF is working with the Government of Malaysia to ensure a “protective environment” for all children free from violence, abuse and discrimination.

I am lucky, most of us are lucky.

But there are a part of children who never go to school and they are living in a 'dirty' environment, where they have no clean water supply and basic needs.

I have :

Electronic gadgets (God knows what I'm gonna do with these)

Nice clothes ( all still in shopping bag)

Water supply, electrical and Broadband!

Entertaiment!

What they really have?

Do they know how to use computer?

Are they living in a good environment?

Is their family love them?

I am so loved by the people around me. I have friends and family. They are all my back up plans when I'm screwed all I'm slightly out of my path.

Are all the children lucky as I am?

Let's talk about Child Abuse

Most of the cases are hidden behind the doors. Only certain cases, which caused main injury or death will be reported. How many of them are abused by others? Silent abusement make it difficults for us where we are unable to get accurate determination of child abuse.

How about HIV and AIDS?

It's curable, if we could treat them earlier before everything is getting too late. Malaysia is one of the fastest growing country of HIV and AIDS determination. We are dominated by injecting drugs or ramdom sexual activities.

One of the statics stated the proportion of women reported with HIV has increased dramatically in the last decade, from 4% of new cases in 1995 to 19% of new cases in 2008. Ministry of Health data show that in 2008, more housewives tested HIV-positive than sex workers, with a ratio of 1 sex worker for every five housewives.

Relatively, babies are on high risk of HIV and AIDS infection. Thankfully, out government takes prevention for those pregnant women who infected by the deathly virus. It does reduce the number of cases reported in previous years.

In such cases, children are helpless. They are vulnerable and they lived with no dignity.

We can make a different, if we care.

Learn about HIV and AIDS. Protect yourself and the people you love.

Study the research. Understand the child issue and protect their right.

Commit time to contribute in programs that help children in Malaysia and around the world.

Believe in this.

We are capable. We can give them a second chance. We can make them live happily and go for school. We could give them vaccination and medical treatment.

All children deserve equally right and protection as we are.

We needs to combine the power among us to make these happen.

Literally. Financially. Commitments.

No single organisation can take on the task of saving children alone.

Unicef is not funded by the United Nations. They depends on voluntary contributions.

Bought a KFC bucket for my daughters ;) They were actually chilling in the kitchen of my boyfriend's studio. Mumble, Roche and Joker.

Mumble is a very smart dog. She never get into a fight and well trained. Well she chased cat, but we stopped her, so since then she knows she is not allowed to chase cats. ;)

Outing with Kong Family

We went for BBQ plaza, Times Square. We were nagging dad to bring us there as all of us, actually like to have dinner in BBQ plaza, but mostly we can't finish all the food, so my mom thought only my dad able to finish the food, so there we are.

Before the dinner, my dad bought me some of the things I wanted before, hmm. Love you dad! By the way, he allowed me to get a dress from Guess, sadly, I found one but the smallest size in the store is UK size 8! I need size 6!

Being that thin is a very sad case.

Requested other branches, all left 8 and 10 only. The manager said they only have one piece for size 6, sold out. Ergh.... sad!

Thankfully : 24 Hour Animal Hospital

Roche met an accident last Saturday night.

Sadly we don't have a 24 animal clinic in Seremban. I was at the airport and got a call from Calvin and told me that Roche went missing at the first place before he called me back again informing me that Roche is bleeding.

I speed up my car speed to 160 KM/H at the ulu road from Kg. L.B.J back to Seremban 2. I was so worried and overtake lots of cars. When I reached home, Calvin wasn't there. He went out with Hilmy to look for a human 24 hr clinic hoping that they could rescue Roche.

My heart stop beating when I saw Roche lay on the floor and her nose is bleeding. She couldn't walk and stand. My mom and siblings were cheering her up hoping she won't fall asleep. My tears dropped and begging Roche not to leave me this way.

It was 2 in the middle of the night, I tried to call my vet doctor but nobody answering the phone. I called to 103 hoping that somebody could tell me any of the 24 clinic around Seremban. Dissapointed that the 103 teller gave me the office number of my vet doctor's.

I was so nervous and scared. Roche is just a 4 months baby, how could anyone let the gate open wide? Luckily Irene went and get a laptop and started to google about 24 hours animal clinic around. And we got it.

Thanks god! It's nearby and we could reached there after 30 minutes. We went by two cars, I was with my younger brother while Calvin, Edward and Irene were in the same car with Roche. Edward and Irene were doing it so hard to cheer up Roche cause she seems want to fall asleep in the car. Thankfully the doctor was there and we managed to rescue Roche at the first second when we reached there.

Roche is suspected hit by a moron's car. She was having head injury and eyes are internally bleeding. She was admitted to the animal hospital for 4 nights.

Seriously, I believe all of them are animal people. They take good care of the animals and I can feel their sincerity about doing their jobs as an animal saver.

I Screwed Mine

When I screwed my own luck?

Seldom have the intend to check my email. Hun asked me to check, whatever last week.

I just randomly clicked on the title, whatsoever, then I saw a unread mail between read mails. It's from HR Recruitment. What's that, I wonder.

OMFG! It's from Qatar Airways! Checked out the interview date... It's 2 days later! On 2nd May 2009, Renaissence Hotel.

Documents required : Updated resume, full length photo and passport photo.

I don't have any one of these!

So, hun helped me to make a resume and brought me for a photo session the next morning.

By 2nd May, I went for the interview. It started at 9am, I reached the hotel at 12 pm. Guess what? They had a briefing in the morning, I missed it!

I handed my resume and photos, hopefully the interviewer don't realize that I'm late for this. They infromed us that they'll call those short-listed candidates before 6pm. I was in the hotel less than an hour. Luckily I managed to hand in my resume, I was the last 2 candidates who made it.

By 2 pm, I got a call. I was one of the short listed candidates! Hooray! The next interview will be by tomorrow, 9.30am.

But guess what?

I woke up late. Woke up at 9am.
